General Election 2024: Labour on Course for Landslide Majority

Projection Shows Labour Winning Nearly All Seats in Upcoming Election

Liberal Democrats Enjoy Significant Gains as Conservative Party Suffers Losses

A projection of how the UK would vote if a General Election were held today shows that the Labour Party is on course to win a landslide majority. Based on current polling, the model predicts that Labour will win 411 seats, compared to just 196 for the Conservative Party. The Liberal Democrats are projected to gain 27 seats, taking their total to 38, while the Scottish National Party is expected to win 50 seats, up from 48 in 2019.

The projection is based on a combination of recent polling data and historical pollster accuracy. The results show a significant swing towards Labour, who are now polling an average of 10 points ahead of the Conservatives. This is a major turnaround from the 2019 election, when the Conservatives won by a landslide with a majority of 80 seats.

The projected Labour victory would be the biggest since Tony Blair's landslide win in 1997. It would also be the first time that the Conservatives have lost a general election since 2010. The result would be a major blow to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who has faced increasing criticism over his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and the cost of living crisis.
