Brown Returns, Porzingis Dominant as Celtics Take Early Lead

Depth Proves Too Much for Dallas as Boston Takes Control

The Boston Celtics made a resounding statement in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday night, routing the Dallas Mavericks 107-89. With Jaylen Brown returning from injury and Kristaps Porzingis putting up a dominant performance, the Celtics seized early control and never looked back.

Porzingis, who had been sidelined since May with a calf injury, made a triumphant return with a team-high 20 points, including 18 in the first half. Brown, making his first start since Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals, added 19 points and 6 assists.

The Celtics' depth proved too much for the Mavericks, who struggled to keep pace with Boston's balanced scoring attack. Six Celtics players scored in double figures, including Jayson Tatum (18 points), Marcus Smart (16 points), and Robert Williams III (12 points, 9 rebounds).

The Mavericks' Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving struggled to find their rhythm against Boston's suffocating defense. Dončić finished with 23 points on 8-of-23 shooting, while Irving managed just 11 points on 4-of-15 shooting.

The Celtics now have a 1-0 lead in the series, with Game 2 set for Friday night in Boston. The Mavericks will need to make significant adjustments if they hope to avoid falling further behind in the Finals.
